Health final

My topic is managing weight and body composition. This basically means having a fit and healthy body.
Having a healthy body can help you in so many ways. In teens and some adults, it improves and boosts your self esteem. maintaining your body weight and composition can also lower your risk of getting any health related disease.

The activity that we would do for this topic is explaining issues:should schools limit the use of vending machines? In this activity, you are going to be reading some opinions of students about the vending machine system. After you read them, then you can answer two questions about what you read. I chose this activity because it relates directly to teenagers. this activity can help kids in school make a better decision about their food choices.

This activity relates to all the three parts of the pyramid, social, physical, and mental.when you are obeise, you don't feel good about yourself, you also think you are an outcast, and you also can't do what healthy kids do. ex: play tag, you will get tired very fast.

In the summer I am planning to gain muscle on my biceps by lifting weights. By doing this I am maintaining my muscular strength, and body composition.

what i have learned about down syndrome

so far i've learned that down syndrome is a genetic disease. This means that it starts from development. I've also learned that it can not be treated, since it started from development, it really cannot be stopped. If it is then the baby will die.The last thing I've learned about down syndrome is that people with down syndrome have development delays, their body develops more slowly than regular people.

background of down syndrome

Down syndrome is a genetic disorder, in which there is a mutation in the development of an egg or sper cell. This causes an extra chromosome, usually known as chromosome number 21.This disorder is passed down from parent to offspring.Children born with down syndrome have a wide range of mental retardation, some parts of the body may develop faster that otheres, which can lead to heart defects. Even tough children born with down syndrome have mental retardation, they are just like us, the only difference is that they develop more slowly than regular people.

why i chose down syndrome.

I chose down syndrome because it is a very interesting topic. It is about the body's dna and chromosomal development.I like scientific subjects and exploring the body's make up. Down syndrome is a mutation in the development of the body, thats what makes it interesting to me.You can actually understand how it came about and how it formed by detail. The other reason I chose this topic is that I had already did major research on it in my biology class. So this gave me a huge advantage on this subject.

10th grade reflection

10th grade reflection Tenth grade has affected me by giving me a taste of what is to come. All the work I did was very challenging in many ways. Sometimes I felt like giving up but I knew that in the end it will all pay off. It had given me an expectation of college, I am prepared to face the worst in 11th grade if I pass 10th grade. 10th grade has also given me something to take pride in. it showed me that I am a very hard worker no matter what, it made me feel like I am ready for college. Even though I am not finished with high school I have already planned ahead, I have chose my careers first choice and backups in case something goes wrong with my first choice. 10th grade has also prepared me for the 11th grade. This year I learned that I am very smart when I want o be. I also learned that I am capable of handling situations. When we had the science fair, I had almost turned it in late; this was because I had other projects to deal with. In the end I turned it all in and got an A on all of them. I encountered that I was overconfident in almost all of my classes, every time we started a new lesson I would have an attitude that I already knew the lesson and that it was easy. When we took the quiz I would fail, I have learned to control these feelings and attitudes. I didn’t really expect this kind of act from myself. In my tenth grade year I made a lot of contributions to my classes, I have helped my world history class by making an A on a major test and raising their class average significantly also helped my homeroom win a Halloween door decorating contest, I drew a poster with the gram reaper hovering over a cemetery with the teachers names carved on the tombstones. I had some misconceptions about me this year, the biggest one was that people thought I was a bad person, I think sometimes my actions get out of control, and I get in trouble. I also had some major challenges such as keeping up with the assignments. Sometimes we would be given multiple assignments at the same time, we would be expected to finish and turn in all these projects in on the same day.

9th grade reflection

I chose International High School because it was a very small school; students get more attention from teachers, so they can focus more. The school had more to offer than regular schools; we went on a lot of field trips, especially ones to college campuses. The school also had a lot of scholarship opportunities, some of the scholarships were out of state, and others took you to other countries. Having the opportunity to go to another country for free is a really exciting one. We had students go to China, Nicaragua, and Cambodia. It was also convenient to go to the school at International, I lived not far from it, and it is very easy for me to get there and come back home safely, it was just a short walk. Some of the classes I took at International were very interesting; the class I was very good at was English. The class itself was small; you can learn more when there is not so much talking around the classroom. The teacher also played a major role in my education, they made the class very easy to learn and they also made it very fun. The class I wasn’t successful in was Chinese; I also didn’t like the class. The class had a lot of kids in the first place; it was very hard to focus on the work. They Chinese language itself had so many characters, unlike English, Chinese language didn’t use the alphabets, they used strokes instead, this was why I probably had a low grade in the class. My most memorable moment in 9th grade was when we went to Kemah Board Walk in Galveston. The bus took forever to get there, but I think it was worth it. I bought the free rides ticket for 20 dollars, this meant that I could go on any ride for free , there was like 50 rides, most of them were very high up and went in all directions, I especially remembered riding the roller coaster, the whole time I rode, I thought it was going to fall apart. The whole structure was made out of wood. After that I went to the restaurant and ate a lot of food. Most of the food was very expensive, the highest price was 200 dollars, but it was a big meal. Looking back I thought it was a great freshmen year, I had some disappointments but all in all I thought it was a great 9th grade year.
